Concurrent disease and leg problems

Question:  I have diabetes and heart disease. Can I get my varicose veins safely treated?

Answer: We see many patients at the Ashton Vein Center who have medical conditions in addition to venous disease.  This ranges from hypertension to diabetes to heart disease.

Many of our patients are on multiple medications.  The procedures we do in the office setting were originally designed for patients that were too ill to undergo vein stripping under general anesthesia.  These patients required treatment because as we age, the incidence of blood clots increases, especially in patients with other medical conditions.

The latest treatments are very safe and yet extremely effective.  There is no down time, and we have experienced no complications of bleeding, infection, or worsening of other conditions.

It has been shown that correcting leg problems has a beneficial effect on other medical conditions.
